ADAPAO hosting Fall Garden Party on Sunday, October 8!

ADAPAO's signature fundraising event, the ADAPAO Garden Party, will take place Sunday, October 8 from 1:00 to 4:00pm at Goodale Park Shelterhouse in the picturesque Short North neighborhood in Columbus.

"Goodale Park is a beautiful setting for ADAPAO's annual celebration of prevention," noted Holly Zweizig, Resource Development Chair on the ADAPAO Board of Directors. "We anticipate a terrific afternoon with our members and others who support prevention."

ADAPAO members and others can support the Garden Party in multiple ways. Members and other supporters are invited to join the Host Committee for the event. Host Committee members make a $100 donation to support the event. No other commitment is required; a planning committee takes care of making the Garden Party happen. Host Committee members are listed on the event invitation and receive two complimentary tickets to the Garden Party.

Tickets to the event are $25.00 per person or $40.00 per couple. Tickets for teens between the ages of 13 and 18 are $10.00 per person. Children 12 and under can attend at no charge.

Host Committee commitments and ticket purchases can be made via regular mail (checks made payable to ADAPAO, mailed to ADAPAO; P.O. Box 2394; Columbus, OH 43216) or below via PayPal.

Businesses and organizations can provide sponsorship support. For more information on sponsorship, please contact ADAPAO at

The Garden Party will feature a silent auction, entertainment, and a smorgasbord of finger foods donated by area restaurants.

A highlight of the event is presentation of the ADAPAO Youth Prevention Awards. The awards recognize young people who are making significant contributions to prevention in their communities. ADAPAO members nominate award candidates. An awards committee and the ADAPAO Board of Directors choose the recipients.

"We debuted the ADAPAO Youth Prevention Awards in 2016, and we couldn't be happier about recognizing Ohio's youth who are doing amazing things across the state" noted ADAPAO President Aimee Wade. "Ohio has a long history of youth involved in prevention as teens developing into strong prevention professionals and advocates. Today's ADAPAO Youth Prevention Award recipient may be tomorrow's president of ADAPAO." (Narrative on the 2016 award recipients is available at the Youth Leaders tab.)

The Garden Party provides funding for ADAPAO's advocacy and education initiatives.
