New overtime rule put on pause...for now

A federal district judge in Texas has filed an preliminary injunction which blocks the process of the new U.S. Department of Labor's (DOL) overtime rule.  The rule would raise the existing salary threshold from $23,660 to $47,476 per year and was to go into effect on December 1, 2016.

U.S. DOL is likely to appeal the decision which could allow the rule to be implemented unchanged. Many still urge agencies and organizations to continue to review the changes to ensure compliance. You can find more information on the issue in the NonProfit Times.
