Posted on: November 7, 2016 8:00 am

Ohio Mental Health & Addiction Services (OhioMHAS) has been notified of a product recall for the #MAD300 nasal atomizer produced by Teleflex Medical. The atomizer is most associated with Naloxone administration used in the event of an Opiate overdose. If you have purchased or received a Project DAWN kit you may have a defective atomizer. The recalled atomizers fall within a specific lot of numbers. If you have a device that falls within the recalled lots, please return it to the distributor.

The recall impacts the nasal atomizer and possibly the syringe, the medication itself is safe. The recall was issued after it was determined that the atomizer shoots a stream, rather than a mist, in a patient's nose rendering the medication less effective. If you have a supply of Naloxone, do not discard it. However, if you have a product or Project DAWN kit with an atomizer in the recalled list, please return it to your supplier immediately. If you have questions or for more information contact the state's toll-free hotline at 1-844-364-4063. For complete information about this recall visit the Ohio Department of Health website
