The Director of Prevention and Early Intervention Services reports directly to the Executive Director and provides leadership and expertise in the area of local primary prevention to further the strategic goals of Montgomery County ADAMHS.  This individual is also responsible for collaborating with other County boards and agencies on statewide and regional initiatives. The position requires an individual with training and certification and a great vision and understanding of primary prevention, strategic framework and planning, and state and national level program development.

Job Duties

Identify and interpret behavioral health needs by conducting research, collecting data, and analyzing the prevention system to identify community needs, gaps, and barriers; Coordinate and work with organizations, school districts, criminal and juvenile justice systems, child welfare/child protection system, other Levy organizations, the Ohio Department of Mental Health & Addiction Services to develop community solutions that prevent behavioral health issues; Create and maintain positive working relationships with agencies, community leaders, partners, and other related organizations; Coordinate and work with appropriate stakeholder groups to ensure their investment in, and active participation on, relevant prevention community initiatives; Provide leadership in strategic planning, establishing goals and objectives, developing logic models and action plans, evaluating and monitoring committee and provider activities, and ensuring progress and advancement of community initiatives to address prevention needs in the community; Provide supervision and/or consultation to agency staff members participating in prevention initiatives; Act as a liaison to the State of Ohio by representing Montgomery County on relevant prevention initiatives; Research, identify, recommend, and pursue local, state, and federal grant opportunities to increase overall behavioral health funding to develop and/or enhance services that meet the behavioral health needs of the community; Monitor local, state, and federal grants to ensure compliance with grant guidelines and accountability of prevention services provided; Act as a consultant to boards, agencies, and community programs and projects to provide prevention expertise when and as needed; Assess training and technical assistance needs of the prevention system and develop and/or organize workforce development opportunities to enhance the Prevention profession in the Montgomery County region in collaboration with the ADAMHS Training Division; Collaborate with Regional Affiliate Boards (RAB)to enhance and expand the regional Prevention and Early Intervention services network; Provide leadership for daily operations for the Division of Prevention and Early Intervention Services, including but not limited to staff supervision, using progressive discipline, evaluating staff performance, facilitating staff meetings, training and development, providing budgetary information, attending and assigning staff to community initiatives; Other duties or responsibilities as assigned by the Executive Director.

Minimum Class Requirements

Individual must have a Master's Degree in a Behavioral Health discipline, Public Administration or a closely related Management field with a minimum of five years of progressively responsible Senior Management level experience. Preference will be given to candidates with behavioral health experience and an active prevention certification through the Ohio Chemical Dependency Professionals Board (OCPS/OCPC). Administrative experience in public sector funding is a plus. Experience must include budgeting, program development/management, and a working knowledge of youth and adult prevention services, sensitivity to vulnerable populations, school-based programming, alcohol and drug addiction services, mental health services, quality/performance improvement activities, and best practice prevention principles.
Grant writing skills/experience preferred; Grants Professional Certification (GPC) preferred. Experience in PC software to include Word and SAMSHA-based applications is required.
