The Ohio State University College of Social Work was recently awarded $1.35 million over three years to fund the project: “Developing the Next Generation of Professionals in the Treatment of Opioid Use Disorder” through HRSA.

The focus of this grant will be to increase the number of behavioral health professionals trained in the provision of Opioid Use Disorder (OUD) and other Substance Use Disorders (SUD) prevention, treatment, and recovery services to serve in high need and high demand areas. Specifically, over the grant period, 81 MSW students will be recruited in this program. By training social work students to work closely with nurses, doctors, and other medical professionals in integrated care settings, we can strengthen the continuum of care for opioid and substance use disorders across the state.

We are seeking a full time program manager to administer this grant by (1) recruiting students who are interested in opioid use disorder prevention and treatment and a field placement that can allow the opportunity to implement practice skills regarding OUD and SUD; and (2) engaging community agencies to support students in an interdisciplinary field placement. A successful applicant will have an MSW, experience working with substance using populations, and experience with field education.
