Greenleaf Family Center’s Celebrating Families! program is a drug and alcohol prevention program for children 0-10 who have parents in recovery. It is a 16-week, family-based program series held on Monday evenings from 5:00-7:30 at a local church. The 2 ½ hour program includes a family meal, age-based education sessions for all ages, followed by family interaction time. We will hold one series Sept 9-Dec 16thwith our Graduation Celebration on Jan 6th. Our second series will be held from Feb-June, 2020. The position would involve being a facilitator as part of the facilitation team for the 16-week series, for about 4.5 hours/week during those time periods. It will include a one-day training at Greenleaf for the evidence-based curriculum in mid to late August, 2019. The pay rate for the position is $16.50/hour.

Job Title:  Prevention Specialist—Contract/PRN

Department: Behavioral Health Services--Prevention

General Statement of Duties: Provide effective and professional alcohol and drug prevention education and program facilitation to community youth, adults and families designed to educate and encourage session participants to make healthy life choices. 

Must attend 1-day evidence-based program curriculum training at Greenleaf Family Center on Tuesday, August 20, 2019.


Bachelor’s degree required. LSW or Ohio Certified Prevention Specialist or actively pursuing certification. 

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:  Prior community outreach and program facilitation experience preferred.   

Must be able to meet agency requirements for criminal background check (Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation).


  •      Ability to facilitate research-based programming to community youth and families with program fidelity
  •      Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.
  •      Ability to work independently as well as cooperatively, reliably and dependably, and the ability to manage available resources to carry out assigned task.
  •      Attend ongoing program meetings and trainings
  •      Copy and prepare written materials, supplies, etc. for each program session
  •      Maintain accurate, complete records of programs and projects (including program sign-in sheets and completed participant pre/posttest evaluations)
  •      Complete necessary service documentation 
  •      Assist with the development of documents and reports, both programmatic and funding related
  •      Ability to assemble meaningful information in order to draw valid conclusions.
  •      Model professional, responsible behavior at all times
  •      Attend related community meetings as requested
  •      Complies with agency policies and procedures, COA regulations, federal and state requirements, and educational/certification/registry requirements.
  •      Be knowledgeable of and adhere to all pertinent federal, state, and local laws, standards of the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services, and appropriate professional ethical standards.
  •      Maintain current knowledge of all applicable GFC policies and procedures and function according to these standards.
  •      To provide other support consistent with job roles assigned
