TCN Behavioral Health Services, Inc., a Non-Profit Organization, is committed to providing accessible, affordable mental health and substance use treatment to youth and adults through clinical excellence in greater Dayton, Ohio.

Currently, we are seeking a qualified Prevention Specialist for our office in Bellefontaine, Ohio.  This position is responsible for providing prevention services for clients through awareness education, training, intervention, and outreach services.  The Prevention Specialist will demonstrate time management skills, ability to work independently out in the community, and the ability to work in a team setting. This position is a full-time, short calendar position that reflects 6 weeks off per year (summer and school holiday breaks).

Responsibilities include:

Lead educational, prevention groups such as; anti-bullying, anger management, stress management, organizational skills and time management, substance abuse education and prevention, mental health: suicide prevention and education to teachers and students.

Provide mental health screenings that may be able to identify troubled students that are struggling with mental health problems or may be at risk for suicide or violence.

Conduct one-time education/prevention presentations, (substance abuse, mental health), to Health classes, or be a “guest speaker” in career development classes.

Outreach to at risk clients and linkage to the appropriate services as needed.

Meet with clients face to face, and provide interventions that will assist clients in reaching their overall treatment goals.  Face to face contact should occur at a minimum one time per month.

Works effectively and collaboratively with agency referral sources or other community partners.


Education:            Associates degree in a social-service related field; bachelor’s or master’s a plus

Experience:          1-3 years’ experience working with at-risk youth or both youth and adults.

Certification:         First Aid; CPR; De-escalation; LSW or prevention licensure (OCPSA, OCPS) a plus

Other:                   Valid Ohio driver’s license; proof of automobile liability insurance; access to an operational vehicle; meets ODMH licensure and certification requirements;
