Job Title:Program Coordinator - Drug Free Communities Grant Coordinator Position (DFC Project Coordinator) for ASAP Norwood in Norwood, Ohio.

$50,000 - $60,000 Annualized Salary. Full Time with benefits or flexible with employing as a contract position.

Description of duties and responsibilities: Provides daily oversight of the grant, including fiscal and personnel (contractor and volunteer) management, community relations, implementation, evaluation, training and education, coalition communication, data collection, and information dissemination.

Qualifications required for the position: Preference foreither (a) a Master’s Degree in Public Health, Health Education, Community Health, Psychology, Sociology, Human Resources, Mental Health, Social Work, or other Human Service curriculum and two (2) years of experience or (b) a Bachelor’s Degree in a field as defined in (a) and four (4) years of experience in the planning, development, or implementation of prevention programming in the community.

Preferred qualifications include Ohio Certified Prevention Specialist (OCPS), Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES), Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC), or similar certification or licensure.

Essential functionsinclude, but are not limited to the following:

  •      Coordinate implementation of evidence-based strategies to effectively fulfill the community-wide prevention plan. Includes a high-profile mass media campaign.
  •      Facilitate community education and organize special events.
  •      Report community progress to SAMHSA and community stakeholders.
  •      Serves as information resource for the coalition and the community.
  •      Build relationships with community partners to reach program and finance goals. 
  •      Collect and use data to inform DFC Coalition members. 
  •      Performs other duties as required to ensure success of the Drug Free Communities Program Grant and the ASAP Norwood Coalition.
  •      Prefer to have someone who currently or formerly lives in Norwood or has strong ties to the Norwood Community. 

Skills and knowledge required for the position: Good knowledge of the nature of and the techniques used in establishing effective prevention programs; good knowledge of community organizational principles and coordinating processes and techniques; good knowledge of the literature and resources available to develop local awareness/abuse prevention programming; ability to plan, organize, implement, coordinate, and evaluate programs to meet the needs of the community; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with individuals, schools, and community-based organizations and agencies; ability to comprehend and follow federal and state grant regulation guidelines; ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; ability to work independently; ability to read, write, understand, and communicate in English sufficiently to perform the essential functions of the position; ability to effectively use computer applications such as spreadsheets, word processing, e-mail, and database software; good judgment; initiative; tact and courtesy; physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position. 

Amount of travel: Overnight travel and extensive training are required.

Wages are negotiable within the competitive salary range set by GCF. The ranges have been established based on organization, industry and national standards. Desired salary expectations will be discussed during the interview process.
